Schedule a consult

I currently accept the following insurance providers through a healthcare partner, Alma:

  • UnitedHealthcare

  • Oxford Health Plans

  • Aetna

  • UMR

My current rates are as follows:

  • Individual session (50 min): $175

  • Couples session (50 min): $200

  • EMDR Session (75 min): $250

  • Ketamine-assisted emdr session (90 min): $300

  • individual KAP Session (180 min): $500

  • Group KAP session (180 min): $300/person

I do have a limited amount of sliding scale spots available in my calendar, and I’m committed to remaining as accessible as possible to everyone who is seeking support.

Step One: schedule an initial consult call.

I offer free 15-minute consultation calls to all new clients. It’s really an informal chat where I ask some additional questions about what you’re going through and what you’re expecting from therapy, and I share a bit more about how I work with clients. The goal is to determine fit and to decide which kind of services I offer would most benefit you, because therapy is not one size fits all.  If it’s not a good match, I do my best to provide appropriate referrals or resources to lead you in the right direction.

Step Two: Complete Paperwork.

All paperwork and payment methods will be filled out electronically. It’s a fairly straightforward process and should take no more than twenty minutes. If you’re using insurance, it will take a few days to verify coverage, so it’s important to complete this step as soon as possible. You’ll get a separate email with a video link for your sessions.

Step Three: Initial Intake Session.

Intake sessions are 50 minutes and focus on your background and history. This initial session is a bit more structured than other sessions; I’ll take detailed notes to make sure I’m catching everything, but that’s not something I’ll do in regular sessions, so bear with me! These initial sessions can feel like a lot, so you may consider giving yourself time immediately following the session for some self-care and reflecting.  When working with couples, there are three intake sessions (one for the couple, and one for each individual partner).

Step Four: Therapy!

You’ve made it to the big game. This is the part where we roll up our sleeves and get to work.  How long this process takes varies widely based on each client’s needs and goals, but if you’re not starting to feel a bit differently after two or three months of working together, that’s definitely something to discuss.  I highly encourage weekly sessions for the first three months in order to more easily build on each session.

FAQS

  • My typical hours of availability for client sessions are Tuesday through Thursday, 10am to 6pm. Extended sessions or ketamine assisted psychotherapy sessions may be scheduled outside these hours, in evenings or weekends.

  • I use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant service, for online sessions. The link is included in appointment reminders and works with modern browsers without plugins. Mobile apps are available for iOS and Android.

  • Currently, I am seeing all my clients virtually with the exception of ketamine assisted therapy sessions, which are held in either Scripps Ranch or Del Mar in San Diego.

  • I have a 24 hour policy for cancellations or rescheduling requests; otherwise you’ll be charged the full fee for the session. I understand that life can throw unexpected things our way, and I do my best make exceptions to this policy in case of emergency, illness, and other unforeseen circumstances.

  • If you have out of network benefits, I can provide a monthly receipt (known as a super bill) for our sessions that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I work with a partner called Thrizer who can help manage this for you.

  • To find out what your insurance may cover, contact your insurance and ask if you have out-of-network mental health coverage. Other questions to consider asking:

    • What is my deductible?

    • What is my co-insurance payment?

    • How many visits do I get per year?

    • Do I need prior authorization for my sessions?

    • Details on how to submit a superbill

  • The short answer is, it’s complicated. If your insurance is one that I take, all the pre and post sessions associated with KAP can be covered through your insurance. Some medical pieces of KAP work may be reimbursable as an out of network provider. Unfortunately, the actual dosing sessions are not currently covered by insurance (but they are working on it!)
